Writing Streak

I have officially hit 150 days in my writing streak! (As of Saturday, May 30th.)
(Sorely tempted to end this with a 'That is all.' and just post this, lol. Alas, I shall say more...)
So far, this is an accomplishment hard won. A lot of nights, I've sacrificed time with my significant other in order to keep myself on task. It's been tough, but mostly rewarding. And I still haven't read all the new books I have! (Though we're getting closer to that Deceptive Inheritance review I was tell y'all was coming.)
Lately, I've been solely focused on DK:TL as far as my writing goes. I've jumped into Metaphysical Attachment a couple of times in the last month or so, but not long enough to do some real work on it. I'm less motivated because I can feel the story dragging. Therefore, I think I'm going to try #authorfriendJen's method of just getting straight to the good parts, and fleshing things out later. Since MA is such low-stakes, it'll be the best to practice on.
For DK:TL that plan won't work this far in. How far? Oh, at time of writing this it's just over 103k words. At least 20k of those will need to be brutally chopped, and we're not even finished with the book. To help myself in this endeavor going forward, instead of giving certain chapters a name, I've been putting 'DELETE' as the chapter heading or 'REWORK' so I know what has to go right away. But I'm too far in and too invested in my numbers at this point to cut anything.
Basically, I've re-entered my NaNo focus. At least this time, there are no word counts to stress about. If you look at the image, you'll see how many of those boxes look pretty white. Almost as if I wrote nothing at all. Well, those are the days when I squeezed out at least 20 words and called it good. Most of them are in the 300 range. That one really dark spot was that glorious travel day when I wrapped up chapters in both books and got the combined number of 2,379 words written that day.
Honestly, I deeply miss the days when I could sit down at the computer, know exactly what was going to happen next, and crank out entire chapters. Alas, the burden of adult responsibities strikes again.
As much as I like DK:TL, I'm going to be glad to move on from it to another project. Obviously, I want to finish MA next. Out of all the commercially viable options I have, that one could be great if I can figure out my pacing.
At the risk of putting the cart before the horse, I also have 3 other Demon Kin ideas floating around in my head. One is almost pure erotica. (Persephone & Hades if they were a demon and his Wife.) Another idea would be a one-off of what it would look like for a demon kin who has not emerged getting to have a "normal" family life. Lastly, there's a far-distant option of continuing with Aren in Demon Kin: The Mother, but I feel like that one is far, far, far into the future. (I only have the characters I want in it, not an actual story arc.)
So, once DK:TL is officially finished (hopefully before my 365 days are up!), I hope to move onto one of the other DK ideas while my brain still wants to be in that world.
And that's it. That's the update. The vague thought of a plan. And how I'm getting my groove back a little at a time.
Now let's hope the rest of the life updates I give are like this one.
