All The New Things
So this blog post is technically going to be late for the week. (Meaning it'll publish on Sunday, even though I've begun writing on Saturday.) This is because a lot of stuff happened this week, and I have things to share with you.
Let us begin with: Coworkers keep having health issues and my time spent at Job 2 has been significantly wonky. It will continue to be wonky throughout the month as more coworkers have requested overlapping time off, meaning the rest of us are scrambling to get things covered.
Also wonky: our fucking internet. If you've never heard of CenturyLink/Brightspeed, thank your lucky stars. Literally the worst internet company I've encountered that wasn't satellite based. (Hughesnet is also absolute trash if you live in rural areas, jsyk. I've heard Starlink is pretty good for internet, but I know that their phone service is horrific. Do not get their landline package if you are a business owner!!) So yeah, this post would have been done earlier this week (albeit without all the new things) had the internet not been down for two days straight, and glitchy as shit on the third. Did I mention this happened in the middle of the week? Which also meant I had to go to Job 4 for two days after Job 2 just to catch up on all the paperwork I fell behind on.
Today I got trained for a new responsibility at work. It was far past time, as our manager's current health escapades proved to us. So I'm a big girl now, and I don't wanna be. lol
Now. Onto the fun things that happened this week. We'll start from the good and work our way up, shall we?
First of all, these came today...

They are the paperback editions of the PMC 10th Anniversary Editions. Most of these will be taken to the hardware sometime in the next few days to be sold through there. Yay!
Next up, we have these:

So, a little while ago I commissioned the desk mat that you see as the background for many of these pictures. Well, since I've got a little bit of money on hand, I decided to go ahead and order the PMC copies, but also have some merch made for Demon Kin: The Queen. Basically, I wanted a tarot card deck. These, however, are much too large to be tarot cards. They are instead the size of an average invitation. However, they are perfect for what I want them for, which is pictures. Obviously, I will also be giving these away at some point. But rn, I've been wanting to redo the cover for DK:TQ and I really wanted the option of there appearing to be a deck of cards available. I might take more professional looking photos in future, or I'll seriously tweak these. All the same, right about the time that DK:TL is done, expect a new DK:TQ cover/edition. (It will actually be a whole new edition, as I will be adding bonus things to it. Including the first chapter of DK:TL.)
Last, but certainly not least, we had this new thing to contend with:

Everyone, meet Cinder.
She came to us on Sunday via Ori chasing her up a tree. Her attitude and injuries point to a feral lifestyle before our timely intervention. By injuries, I mean that part of her whiskers on one side look singed. The foot on that side (the white toe peet) was injured enough that she was limping for a couple of days. Oh, and she has a hole in her neck that turned out to be a giant botfly larva problem that her dad and I recently handled tonight. (Hence the lateness of the blog post.) Thankfully, she's adapted well to living with humans, she's no longer afraid of Ori, Small Creature intrigues her, but Demon still thinks she should not be in his house. Until her vet appointment, we've been keeping her pretty well separated from everyone else, and have set her up an "apartment" in the master bathroom so that food and litter are not shared. That said, she is all of our new form of entertainment, as both Demon and SC will sit in the doorway of the bathroom and watch her play with me or herself as if they're trying to figure out what to do wtih her. Demon is also very mad rn because laying in the bed with me while I type is a huge part of our nightly routine, but he won't hang around while she's here.
One last thing that is not great news:
Small Creature had to be scurried to the vet on Monday. All of Sunday night, he stayed out in the catio. I thought it was because he was mad at us for the kitten's arrival. No. Instead, that poor boy spent most of that time trying to vomit, because it feels/felt like something was caught in his throat/chest. So I took him to the vet for their next available appointment, got a ton of bloodwork done, gave them the full rundown, prepaid for a fecal sample that I can drop off at any time (I'll be taking it with me when I bring Cinder) and got him some anti-naseau meds and a B12 shot. Nothing invasive was done and no x-rays performed just because they probably wouldn't show anything, and there was no point putting him through that.
The shots worked a dream and he was ready to eat his soft food shortly after we got home. Of course, getting him to eat the prescribed anti-naseau drugs or the probiotic powder was a whole other matter. Thankfully, at this time, SC is now drinking regularly and eating again. So it looks like everything will be just fine.
Now, I'm exhausted and want to sleep. Goodnight all.
