Sheets I Love

I'm not going to lie, this is going to be an entirely random post that isn't writing related in the slightest. I have no regrets. (It should also be short and full of pictures.) To start, I've been lamenting about us not having a variety of bed sheets for a while. What we had was basically four sets of the same two colors (grey and brown). These were not actually sets, as we never used flat sheets. Having gotten sick of only having the first two brown sets, I went out and bought the grey. (Because brown is now taboo or something?? It's hard not to find a super light tan and get an actual brown now.) After that, I was finally able to throw out the super threadworn fitted sheet and continue on with my other sets ... for about 3 weeks.

Anyone wanna guess what happened when we got to that slightly expensive, cooling bedding set? Ori's nails, that's what! One little scrape of his nails and it did the panty-hose track immediately. The track, in two nights, turned into a hole large enough for my whole foot to slip into. Which it did. It was very uncomfortable. Therefore, it hit the trash and we were back to two sets. Weeeeeelllllll, right before Christmas, the boyfriend and I went to Northwoods in Pinconning. I don't remember exactly what we were there for, but I found bedding sets for around $20 each. In–get this–COLORS! I got three. (This was also a really convenient purchase because we had family staying at the house to watch the furbabies while we were away, and I wanted them to have fresh, clean sheets for their stay. This way, they got to use sheets that we'd never slept on.)

The first set, admittedly, is a very light tan/grey color. It honestly looked more tan in the store under the warehouse lighting. At home, in our LED bright lights, it has a distinct grey coloring. Not worth photographing, really. I'm more excited about the other two colors. Exhibit A is this really, really pretty sage green color. I've been thinking about doing a photoshoot of my books on them for days and have since convinced myself to do so. (Since, y'know, I actually folded them straight out of the dryer so the wrinkles are at a minimum.)

The other set I got is this wonderful, deep teal. I'm so in love with it and plan on putting them on the bed in the reading loft. (Once I don't have to tredge through a foot of snow–literally–to get to the garage.) I've not used them on our actual bed for two reasons. Reason one: our entire house (minus the pool room) is painted the same tan. (The bf is a beige millenial. He wanted to paint the POOL ROOM the same tan. Thankfully me, his mom, and his brother all talked him into two shades of blue.) Anyway, our comforter/decorative pillows are also a dark brown. This teal and that brown are ... less than appealing right next to each other.

The unflattering colors in question (the lighting does not actually do the teal justice; it is so much prettier in person).

Reason two: I am lazy. I wash our bedding once a week. Depending on when/what other laundry needs to occur in that week, they could be sitting in the dryer for ... a while. Which means, by the time I get around to washing bedding again, I could just pull one set out of the dryer and put it on the bed while the other hits the laundry pile. Win-win. So, that being the case, we are cycling through the same two sets, despite the fact that I now own five. All of this said, I've also been lamenting the fact that we only have two comforters (the brown one, obviously, and its predecessor that is ... tan). Of the two, only the brown one remains on the bed. The other is our couch blanket because it's the only one we can both curl up under when watching movies together. Guess what the teal sheets mean to me? That's right: an excuse to finally buy a new comforter to match them. Or I really will use them for the loft next. Time will tell. (As will my bank account, which is adamant that spending be limited for a very long time.) Well, that's it. That's all I've got for you. Hope you liked my rambling. And the pictures. (Especially the pictures.)
