Holidays Are Upon Us

Well, I had a wonderful Yule with some of my family and my boyfriend, and tomorrow we intend to surprise my Nana and Papa with a visit for Christmas. My mom was a champ and got me a whole stack full of books. Which is perfect, considering I still need to read 11 books to make my reading goal on Goodreads. (If I fail, it's okay. But I have thin, tiny little back-up books to make sure that doesn't happen. Even if I'm not interested in them.)

Next year, I don't think I'm going to do a reading goal. Probably because I'm at a point where I want to go back and start working on project rewrites again. Lately I've been reading books with intricate World Building and interesting plot twists and it's making me ambitious because I know which stories require what amount of work. Rewrites are hard, because I love most of what I've already written, but once you make the decision that something doesn't work, there's no possibility of saying 'well, it's good enough as it is; we'll just polish it a little and release it.' I've made that mistake before, and I won't let it happen again. So rewrites are in order.

First, however, I have to finish the PMC and the book following. (Working title: Believe Everything.) BE (as it is affectionately known) will be the introductory book to Vassel. And boy is it going to take a lot of work to make it worthy of that honor. As it is, I've started it. I know a lot of major plot points, and I know how it ends. That does not make any of this easier. At all. Period.

Anyway, funny story: I decorated for Yule/Christmas this year. On the 21st, we opened our presents and I was happy. The next day, my brother plugged in the lights in the dining room and I walked out of my room and was surprised, thinking to myself "The holiday is over, why are the lights on?" Then I remembered. Not all of the holidays were over. I'm a bit of a duh. To be fair, though, new house means I get to celebrate MY holidays, and once mine was over, I kind of forgot for a minute that the other existed. My bad.

Also, I am a huge, huge procrastinator, which means all of the presents I sent out ... didn't leave until the 20th. My apologies to everyone relying on me to make that deadline. It never happens. I'm terrible.

Well, I think that's it for this little life update. As you know, I took a week off from posting following the release of Valerian. After the feverish writing sprints of NaNo, I thought a break was called for. But alas, now I must get Hawthorn finished and move on to the editing portion of that endeavor.

Blessed Be and Happy Holidays everyone!
